My hamily, 2 adultsm1 child age 12,would like to visit Thailand in Aug 2010 for approx 12 days. We like adventure..zipline,atv, jungle, elephant trek, island hopping, and beach..Any sugestions as to where to go,due to the rainy season...is it sunny anywhere in Thailand during August? Any all inclusive resorts available, that maybe we could do day trips from? Or, would it be better to stay a few nights somehere, then travel to another area..??Any assistance is appreciated/

If cost is not an issue, you can check out Movenpick resort on the island of Phuket, at Karon Beach.
Karon Beach, IMHO, is more family friendly than the more well known Patong beach.
The Movenpick resort itself has a tour desk that can organized day trips out to sea, to view some caves and do a bit of kayaking.
The resort occupies a very large compound and has a back gate that leads right to the beach.
You can arrange for airport pick-up.
For a view of the type of accomdation, just visit their website.
But as I said, this resort is not cheap.
For elephant trekking and jungle trips, Chiang Mai is a nice place to go. You can also do side trips to the villages of Pai and Mae Hong Son.
