i'll be traveling from siem reap to the border at aranya prathet, and then would ideally like to head to pattaya instead of back to bangkok. i've been doing quite a bit of searching and i can't find any information on how to get from aranya prathet to pattaya (or even chantaburi or rayong). i would assume there is some type of bus service. does anyone have information on this or could help direct me on where to look?
also, is khao san road a good area to stay if i will be going to the main sites on one day (grand palace, wat pho, etc), ayutthaya the next day, and then the day after heading to nong khai. so i guess i'm asking is if khao san road has easy access to get to the train station? (hualamphong train station)?
what's the best way to get from khao san road to the hualamphong train station?
thanks for the help!

Hi Tanya.
From Aranyaprathet, you can get a bus to Chanthaburi and then change for Pattaya, though there may also be direct buses fro Aran -- but I'm not sure about that -- as this is the most popular spot for visa runs, there's a steady stream of people heading from Pattaya to Poipet and back, so I wouldn't be surprised if there were direct buses.
Khao San is the pick of the bunch -- it's walking distance to the Palace and Wat Pho and a metered cab ride to the train station.

If you are going to Nong Khai, you could go to Ayuthaya, spend the night there, then catch the train NE the next day. That would save you having to make a trip back to Bangkok and another trip back to the train station.
Best way to the train station ... taxi. Quickest and easiest. Costs about B90.
