Does anyone know if there are boat trips to Ayutthaya from Bangkok, day trip or otherwise?

Hi Booradley. We were thinking about boating up to Ayutthaya too, so I typed "bangkok ayutthaya boat trip" into my Yahoo browser, and came up with several websites on this trip. For example, Frommers mentioned a company called River Sun Cruises, which runs a cruise from BKK to Ayutthaya, with a stopover in Bang Pa-in, for about 1600 baht (US$40) per person. Not cheap, but a really neat option and likely worth it. A few other websites, like bangkok.thailandtoday.com and bangkok-travel offered similarly priced boat trips to Ayutthaya as well. It looks like some of the more upscale hotels, like the Oriental and the Shangri-La have their own daily boat trips. The cheapest option mentioned was a public boat going for about 300 baht, but it only runs on Sundays. Hopefully this is enough information to get you started. I'd be interested to hear if you do take this boat trip and how it turns out. Regards.
