Pai Accommodation

  • Husko

We are thinking of heading to Pai from Chaing Mai during Songkran (spending 3 days in CM first). Can anyone recommend a resort in Pai with a pool, good food not too far from town or in town up 1500B per night. Have looked at plenty but not sure which is best location. Probably arriving 14th of April so is Songkran busy time or not a problem to arrive and look around for accomm. Any other suggestions welcome - just looking to chill out eat drink swim. Thanks for any suggestions.

Songkran is a very busy holiday period and Pai is increasingly "famous" with Thai tourists, although moreso in cool season. Not saying rooms will be completely full but it won't be easy if you just turn up, and especially if you're after a resort with a pool (peak hot season!)

Have a look at the Travelfish listings on http://www.travelfish.org/accommodation/thailand/northern_thailand/mae_hong_son/pai/all for starters. I would definitely book in advance.

Yes - seconded - there is a very good chance Pai will be RAMMED over Song Khran.

i saw a lot of very expensive resorts in Pai, but I can't remember a single one having a pool - maybe because it was so damned cold when we were there.

I was in Pai a few weeks ago for three days and stayed at a place about 200m on the other side of the vehicle bridge from town (Pai Water House, sorry no website). There's a popular big swimming pool you can use all day for 60 baht down a short path from there.

It was cold at night in February but amply warm by day. In April it will be scorching hot and the pool will be a welcome oasis. There are basic bungalows by that pool but availability would be tight at Songkran. Book anything near the town in advance to avoid disappointment.
