Hi swag,

In season you can get the Island hopper from Ko Mook/Kradan/Ngai to Lanta, but as far as I know there's no boat from Trang/Pakbeng to Lanta. Unless you're planning on going to one of the above mentioned islands, it will be quicker to get the bus to Krabi then go from there to Lanta.

Does anyone know how late you can get a minivan from Krabi to Ko Lanta? I've read wildly different things here and in all the guidebooks--one says you can get minivans until 10 p.m.; the other says the last car ferry leaves at 4. I'm looking at an Air Asia flight that gets into Krabi around 3 p.m.--will that be too late to get to Lanta? Should we just plan on overnighting in Krabi?

Thanks Somtam, I assume I will have to get a bus into Krabi, then a minivan to the ferry to Koh lanta. Is it about 2 hours from Trang to Krabi?

Swag, yup about two hours.

Planetclare, sorry not sure about how late they run -- though I would guess you should be able to get one 3pm isn't all that late really. Perhaps drop a resort on Lanta a casual email asking them for more info -- they should be able to advise.

The easiest and fastest way doesn't involve a ferry. Take a minibus from Trang which will take you right onto Ko Lanta.
