Asha Guesthouse is based near Chatuchak weekend market in Bangkok, about 5 minutes walk from Saphan Kwai MRT station.
We had a double a/c room which was 450 baht a night and absolutely perfect. Everything, including the shared bathrooms were spotless. We also got nice clean towels!
The facilities are also pretty good: free, quick internet, DVD/TV room with movies and lots of books, pool table, games, swimming pool and fantastic bar/restaurant which did amazing Thai food and great breakfasts.
I woudl highly recommend this place!

We stayed here in Feb 2007. It is clean and pleasant but very basic.
I disagree with lauraskrink on the location. It is at least 20 min walk from the Saphan Kwai BTS Skytrain. More than 5 minutes by taxi from the Skytrain. It is not conveniently close to the Skytrain to walk especially in the heat and worse with luggage.
It is more convenient to stay right near the BTS even if further away.
Also there is nothing in the neighborhood but bar girl type bars catering to locals. The guest house warns that guests should avoid the potential trouble of these sleazy dives.
It has a big hot tub, not a swimming pool. The pic on the website is deceiving.

I stayed there in July 2006, in a fan room, which was clean, but very hot.
The unisex bathroooms were okay, not too new, but clean. The distance from the toilet to the toilet door was small, so not much room to move about in the cubicle.
English owner was friendly and helpful, luggage storage available. Bar was okay, food was nice, DVD collection okay. Pool was small.
Distance was about 15 mins to the BTS. All in all, a nice place, but only really good if staying in Saphan Kwai for a reason, or to go to the JJ weekend market.
