Just read your section on Chiang Dao and it is really outdated.
For example, we now have a Thai-German Restaurant, with outstanding Thai and European Food. (Mon and Kurt's Restaurant and Guesthouse, http://www.chiangdao.org Ph: 084-173-9975)
...a Japanese Restaurant with delicious Sushi, Sashimi, and many other nice dishes
...great Greek food at Rainbow Guesthouse
...an Italian Restaurant (Villa Chiang Dao)
...A French Cafe (Cafe Cafe, which has good Expresso, Pizza and other delicious snacks)
...then there are the already mentioned ones (Malee's Nature Lovers, who has a small restaurant on site) and (Chiang Dao Nest, which rated high in Tattler magazine for it's food and athmosphere)
...there is also an awesome Isaan restaurant (at Nature Home Guesthouse)
...plus numerous Thai restaurant, serving anything from noodles, somtham, Frog or Seafood.
The guesthouse, hotels and Resorts are too numerous to mention now. You can get a room anywhere from 150 Baht per night, all the way up to 13000 Baht per night for a big house in one of the local resorts.
Airconditioned places are available from 600 Baht and up.
Best Bang for your buck:
European Food: Mon and Kurt's Restaurant and Guesthouse or Cafe Cafe
Thai food: The Issan restaurant at Nature Home Bungalows
Budget Accommodation: Mon and Kurt's has clean rooms with clean sheets and bedding, free ADSL Internet and free coffee in the morning all for 250 Baht per night
Chan and Cees Bungalows has clean, free standing bungalows for 300 Baht per night, including TV
Mid Range: Chiang Dao Nest, Malee's Nature Lovers, Rainbow, Mon Kiang Dao, Nature Home (all around 500 - 800 Baht per night)
High End: Marisa Resort starts at 1700 Baht per night for an airconditioned bungalow. They also have a nice swimming pool
Motorcylce Rentals: Cheaper in Chiang Mai, but if you want to rent one locally, Mon and Kurt's rents them for $200 Baht per day there is also another place downtown somewhere which rents for 350 Baht per day.
Ask to purchase a local Map, which is very detailed and lists many of the resorts, restaurants and rental agencies. |
