We traveled to Ko Mak this April 08 and we checked your guide before we went there. We really enjoyed the Noddle Stop restaurant, which had for us the best and less expensive food on the island. Also Belle was very good and inexpensive. Thanks for mention these places!!To the right of the Noodle Stop we found a modern Hairsalon, where you can get everything from haircut to massage. They also rented motorbikes, cheaper than at all the other places we looked, 250,-Baht a day.
The Thai/European owners had also a private apartment in that luxurious house for rent and we stayed there for Baht 850,- a night. The room was European standard and their hospitality was very refreshing.
They had a beautiful garden and also a Jungle Bistro were you could get great homemade ice cream, cakes and the menu had all the western food ( Sourdough Bread, smoked salmon, mozzarella, croissants, homemade jam..) the other places on the island not offered.
We enjoyed our stay there, because it was in a privat setting, rather than staying in a hotel or resort.
If you need more info feel free to write.
We enjoyed the beaches on Ko Mak and it is still an island not hit too hard by tourists, but for how long more??

Hey lostinthai,
here the contact info:
kohmaakisland@yahoo.com
Cell: 0 844 929892 Kay

The room downstairs we had was just for 2 person, but upstairs they had a 90 sqm apartment, but can't remember for how many.
You can contact them by e-mail and ask them. They showed us some nice places on the island.
The Baan Koh Mak and the Baan Cha Lay are both nice resorts, but during Dec./Jan/Feb. this stretch of the beach is the most populated and little noisy. If you like it more quite, we liked the Green View Resort,a new one near the Ao Nid Harbour, very nice or the Little Moon Resort.I'm sure our host will be helpful to you as they were to us, because they like seeing people having a good time on Koh Mak, which we had and hopeful being back beginning of the year.

Hey island,
Thanks for that post.
4 of us are heading to Koh Maak in jan-feb.
Do you have contact info or address for the private apartment? Do they have room for 4?
Any suggestions on other places to stay or did you scope out any resorts? We're taking about staying at Baan Koh Maak or Baan Chai Lay.
Thanks again!
