My partner and I have just spent the best four nights in the Luang Chumni Village in Ayutthaya .
This guesthouse is a newly opened, Thai-style house (see the posting by Chirdsak on 11 Apr).
This guesthouse is not yet on the Travelfish list for Ayutthaya but we cannot recommend it enough.
The guesthouse is located about 15 minutes walk from the backpacker ghetto and is perfect for visiting the temples. The TAT Office is just down the road and there is a bike rental shop just across the road.
We stayed in a standard room which came with Air Con, cable TV and a fridge, all this for just 500 baht!!!! The room, bathroom and surrounding communal areas were spotlessly clean and the guesthouse itself is set in perfect, garden surroundings off the main road.
What really makes this place super special though is the host, Ake. He and his girlfriend Fon are the most welcoming, friendly, kind and helpful people you could wish to meet. Both speak excellent English, they helped us develop our Thai language skills and even educated us in how to order vegetarian food at local night markets. They made us feel so at home and when we left this morning, we parted firm friends.
We really hope Travelfish get to take a look at this wonderful little guesthouse soon and get it officially listed so other travellers can get to experience the place. In the meantime, if you are in travelling to Ayutthaya you could do a lot, lot worse than stay here.
Check out their website at www.luangchumnivillage.com for more information.
