Hi guys,
I am travelling from Ho Chi Minh to Siem Reap from 25th September to hopefully be able to catch a flight to Australia on 30th September and was looking to see if anyone was doing the same and wanted a travel buddy? This is my first time backpacking so I am a bit scared. Also, whether it is feasible to do that trip in 5 days and the best way to go - plane, boat, bus etc.
To tell you a bit about myself - 26, living in London now and moving home to Sydney so going via Vietnam and Cambodia.

Hi Kim,
I havnt booked my flight yet but I will be flying in to Bangkok around 27th of Sept. I am staying there for a week before flying to Sydney.
Im flying alone so would be good to meet up with others. Im 27 and Irish.

Hi Kim,
You might want to rethink. There are no flights out of Cambodia to Australia. You either have to fly to Bangkok and book a connecting flight to Sydney, or as we do, fly back to HCMC or Hanoi and book a connecting flight from there.
Given that you only have 5 days, you won't have a lot of time to travel across and return unless you fly both ways.
The flight from HCMC to Siem Reap is only around and hour. There are usually several flights in the morning and the afternoon. You could fly HCMC - Siem Reap, spend 5 days and then retunr to HCMC for your flight to Sydney.
I have previously done this (late last year) and booked via Vietnam Airlines online. Angkor Air carry some flights and they are a subsidiary I assume of Vietnam Air. I have booked the same flights again for late this year. The hardest thing is the time between flights as flights to and from HCMC and Sydney leave at night so close connection times is hard.

im also planning on flying to siem reap on sept 25. it'll be my first time there too so a travel buddy would be most welcome. i'll just be staying for 3days, though. planning on going around ho chi minh after.

I have actually booked a day tour with apparently a fantastic tour guide. He is picking me up from my hotel and taking me around for the day on 28th. I thought this would be the best way as I am not there for long. I arrive into Siem Reap on 27th. Also doing a couple of hour quad bike tour on the 29th if either of you are keen.
Puggles - Wow, thanks for all that info! I meant to say I am flying from Siem Reap to Kuala Lumpur and then to Sydney. I am flying out on 30th. Thanks for all your help though!
