Is there anyone else leaving Siem Reap on Wednesday and heading for Thailand?
I am going to Koh Chang and have heard that ALL direct mini bus packages there are scams and so apparently I need to make my way via a series of buses/share taxis/boats ( see details at http://www.travelfish.org/feature/111 )
Is anyone else making this trip, or have experience getting from Siem Reap to Trat or Koh Chang?
Help would be much appreciated!
Thanks,
Lia

Hi Lia
It's probably a little bit late to answer you but I hope this could help futur travellers
We ( 2 pax ) went directly from Siem Reap to Koh Chang after booking a private transfer between Siem reap to Koh Chang. That was very convenient and we didn 't have to worry about scam or boarding the wrong ferry ; We had to change car at the cambodian border for a Thai car but that was easy . we have been pick up directly at our hotel in Siem Reap and dropp off at the end of the day at our hotel in ko chang at klong prao beach ; Early in the morning we were able enjoy the beach and relax after our journey to cambodia
You can get information on the baan zen web site ( dedicated to yoga courses ) http://www.baanzen.com/privatetransferrates.aspx
The road between Siem reap and Poipet is now in good shape so the journey is easier than it used to be a few years ago ( according to what could be read in some forum )
Have a nice trip ; Enjoy the Koh Chang ! If you can ,take a boat to Koh Mak or koh kood !!

Hi daiquirtoo,
We are looking to go from Siem Reap to Koh chang and were wondering how long the trip took using the private transfer? We have looked on their website and it looks an excellent option.

Hi Stacks
If you plan to come to koh chang using a private car between Siem Reap to koh chang - as we did - your travelling time should be more or less :
Siem Reap Hotel to the border = Around 3.5 - 4 hours
Border crossing at Aranyapraphet border = Around 1 hour ( Custom formalities / Change of car on the thai side
Thai Border to Koh Chang Ferry = Around 3.5 - 4 hours
Ferry including waiting time for ferry = Around 1 hour ( the crossing it self is 30 minutes )
From ferry pier to your hotel on Koh Chang = Around 20-30 minutes.depending of where your hotel is located on the island
Total travelling time is around 9-10 hours
which means if you leave Siem reap early ( 7 am ) you could be at your hotel in koh chang around 5 pm just in time for the sunset and the "happy hour " at the bar ;-))
