Bkk to SIem Reap / Angkor Wat in late march or april?

    Male, 40, from US, I am going to Thailand on March 22, arrive 3/ 24 in BKK and would love to go to Siem Reap to explore Angkor Wat for a few days before moving down south (Krabi etc) for diving and beach time.

    Airfare is kinda expensive for such a short trip ($400+, since the Thai airline basically has a monopoly on the route and exploits that shamelessly), so I am thinking about doing the road trip with train or bus to the border. It's a bit of an adventure, which I like, and I read that the road has much improved, but I would love a travel buddy (not relationship) to go for safety, sharing costs and fun. Flexible in dates (could also do this at end of my trip in April, ie April 16 or so).

    Pls let me know if you're interested or have any tips.

    correction: I get into BKK on 3/22 now, leaving 4/19 if that matters
