Picking mid-week flight times is a great way to save money while traveling. Instead of flying on the weekend, choose mid week dates for your departure and arrival flights. Not only will your tickets be cheaper, you’ll usually be able to avoid the hassle of crowded airports.

yes you are right. Weekends would definitely cost the trip more expensive.
Planning in advance to book a trip also saves money as we can find best travel deals.

Got an email alert from Qatar yesterday for a flash sale:
25% off for almost all flights between 20th April and June 6th 2012 but you have to be very quick...the sale ends tomorrow! (April 19th).

I don't believe in booking hotels online in advance, that's not the way I travel. Most low budget travellers stay in inexpensive guesthouses they find on the spot or just couchsurf. Going to SEA for most people is not a one or two week all inclusive vacation when coming from Europe or North America. It's 2 - 3 months.

Promo prices with Airlines are the same no matter which day it is. Weekends may sell out faster though and school holiday periods are busy so they don't offer promo prices as much.

I have also found that the more antisociable the flight/ferry hours are, the cheaper the ticket is. We saved over 50 Euros for a ferry that departed after midnight other than 2145. We sat at the cafe and enjoyed the view by the sea. Definately worth checking the hours too!
