I am travelling from the UK. Will an American/Australia plug adapter be ok for use in Laos?

As far as I know you'll need a continental Europe grounded plug adapter for Laos..

Most Laos outlets are type A with an occasional Type C.

I have recently bought a European plug adapter while i was on a trip to Europe. I have bought it online and i guess you should also look for your requirement online.
