Hey Guys,

Im travelling around far east asia for 2.5 months (sept-november) and then flying to australia to begin a years work visa. I will be travelling in australia but obviously it will be at a much slower rate than my asia travels as i will be looking to find jobs on the way to gain money.
I was wondering what back pack would people recommend and what are the definite essential items I should pack?
Ive never travelled before and im literally clueless on what to take. As usual ive left everything to the last minute and havent bought anything yet.
Many Thanks,
Luke

My advise is to pack light - they now sell the 'kitchen sink' all over the world!

40-45 Liters top, with a day bag. I especially like those single shoulder day bags because the fit on the front of your chest nicely and less cumbersome when you have your big pack on.

Oh - and bring a pair of jeans, but just one - because they are the best on an unexpected cold night and they never really look dirty, but they pack up heavy and bulky.

Be sure to bring the important ones with you like:
-Cash
-Credit Card/ATM card
-Travel documents (Passport/ticket/visa/ID card with photo)
-Map/Guidebook/Travel Itinerary
-Vitamins (meds/paracetamols), First aid kit
-Bunch of undergarments
-Sewing kit (like those airline giveaways)
-Camera/Phone/Laptop
Good luck!
