Insuring yourself against loss while traveling. Lao airlines just had a crash, no survivors. Imagine if they'd of bought insurance?

There are different travel insurance policies to cover various contingencies. You can read more here

    In a nutshell:

Life insurance pays your family money if you die.

Travel insurance pays your medical bills if you get injured in a foreign country, and will medivac you back to your home country if necessary. It also can compensate you for lost luggage, missed flights, etc., depending on the coverage you buy. But the main reason to get it is the medical coverage - if you're visiting somewhere like the States and are unlucky enough to be in a car accident, your medical bills could easily add up to tens of thousands of dollars.

Travel insurance is health insurance while travelling as well as it can cover lost luggage, flight changes and some other things as well.

When I travelled SEA I got sick with Dengue Fever. My travel insurance covered my expenses, it ended up being cheaper then if I hadn't bought insurance but you never know what will happen. Would suck to get in a car accident and have to pay thousands of dollars for surgery/treatment when insurance would have only cost a couple hundred bucks.
