hi
Thinking of taking our 2 children- aged 3 and 8 on a christmas "adventure" for 3 weeks - want to avoid the "package" options and plan our own route- any ideas on what that should look like and what weather we can expect late December, early Jan? Have you come across many people with children in Cambodia.
any suggestions/advice would be appreciated
Myrto

hi myrto,
the weather in cambodia should be delightful in december and january. that is the "cool" season in this part of the world, with moderate temperatures and not so much rain.
because the weather in cambodia is great during this time, and not so great in europe, expect to share your adventure with lots of other europeans. it is definitely the high season.
we are in cambodia, and see lots and lots of cambodian children every day. they are beautiful and friendly and full of smiles. but to answer your question, we are also meeting lots of europeans and others travelling with their small children, and they appear to be getting along quite well.
my only suggestion is that you book your transport and accomodation ahead of time for the new year's break. other than that, you should be good to go. you can likely find all the info you need on either Travelfish, or on the talesofasia websites. have a great trip. cheers.

Having lived in Cambodia for a couple of years I can strongly recommend Cambodia as a destination with the kids in tow. There's certainly no need to go for an organised option -- though for the longer trips you may want to look at taking a share taxi (but sharing it with nobody other than your family) as it is more comfortable -- though note, in two years in Cambodia I can't remember ever seeing a seatbelt!
For suggested routes, perhaps start with a look at our trip planner sections that has a couple of Cambodia itineraries
