The Sydney Morning Herald has a story on Australian tourist Hayden Adcock who is recovering in a Bangkok hospital after being lost in Lao jungle for eleven days. He apparently walked to Namsanam waterfall which lies just outside Na Hin in Khammuan province in southern Laos and then decided to press on to another waterfall (don't know the name). At this stage, a heavy downpour of rain washed the trail away and he became lost.

What happened next is still pretty vague, but it seems he was found at the second waterfall some 11 days later, obviously in pretty bad shape -- lucky to be alive.

You can read the full story on the Sydney Morning Herald website here.
Moral of the story -- don't go trekking alone -- ever. One hopes Hayden had travel insurance.
