The Vientiane Times reports that Savannakhet airport has reopened with national carrier Lao Airlines offering three flights a week between Vientiane and Savannakhet.
International flights to Udon Thani in Thailand commence on October 30 (twice weekly) and there are plans for flights from Savannakhet to Hue and Da Nang in Vietnam -- commencing sometime in 2009.
