The Bangkok Post reports that Khao Phra Viharn national park in Si Sa Ket province officially reopened Sunday, after being closed for seven months, with a half-price entry promotion. Si Sa Ket governor Sanee Jittakasem said the decision was made to reopen the park because border tensions between Thailand and Cambodia had been significantly reduced and the two countries had almost completely withdrawn their troops from the area.
Tourists are however charged five times the rate of foreigners, the story says -- 20 baht for Thai nationals and 100 baht for foreigners. Still a very irritating policy. Or is it fair? It's an old debate, but here's your chance to comment...
