Sorry, they seem to have been having some tech difficulties - the same link is working again now.

"The media said Mr Wallop claimed he was carrying fruit in the luggage, given to him by a friend based in Japan and intended for a temple in Bangkok."
398kg of fruit ... from Japan to Thailand?? Yeah right, LOL!

And to think that the guy who was running the show in the late 80's and early 90's could develop policy to not hire educated women "because they don't smile enough" and get away with it. How times have changed.
I think that there must be more to this story than just not paying excess baggage claims. By-passing customs in this manner, especially these days (especially lately), would be a flagrant abuse of one's position (though why should anyone be surprised?) and would be seen in a very dim light by the likes of Customs and Immigration. I'd guess that there are bigger fish in the pond than this guy, and they didn't like what he did.
One would think that the BBC could have come up with a better photo of a Thai Airways jet.

Good luck Cabawe.
I think there are some on this forum that will not let that pass.

Dude / Chick if they have trouble seeing the humorous side of that comment well I think they need go down a bottle of JD and learn how to let their hair down unless their surgeons then I apologize for stereotyping them.

I saw the humor. As for JD, love the stuff. My first wife got me started on it. The longer I stayed with her, the more of it I drank.
