we are 2 female travellers who are going to be in vietnam for only 10 days and are flying in to hanoi first, then going south to saigon. what is the cheapest (and fastest) way on getting back to hanoi from saigon?
Hi jellyanna,
The fastest train will take at least a day and a half and a minibus could well take longer. The flight is an hour or so and costs about $150 (I think).
If you're only there for ten days, I'd suggest flying back to Hanoi is your best bet, otherwise you're going to see the entire country pretty quickly, twice!
If you're heading back to Hanoi to pick up an AirAsia cheapie elsewhere, it often costs not much more to fly ex Saigon...

yes actually that's the initial plan, to get back to hanoi to catch an air asia flight. domestic flights are quite budget shattering in vietnam, we checked, and we don't think we can afford to lose a day travelling via bus or train so we're making some trip ammendments - we're going to phnom penh FIRST, then move on to hcmc.
No problems - that's a better way to go. You make want to take a look at the regiohnal trips in the Trip Planner section as there's details in there comparing different modes of travel etc.

Hi Helly,
No problems - that's a better way to go. You make want to take a look at the regiohnal trips in the Trip Planner section as there's details in there comparing different modes of travel etc.
Have fun!

Why not take a nice bus to Bangkok from HCMC / SaiGon?
Check: < http://www.satranco.com.vn/english/lientinh.html >. The web site is behind - buses go through to Bangkok now.
By the time you have paid to get to Ha Noi then a No 7 bus to Noi Bai and located the GSA for AirAsia you could be in Bangkok for less money.
Do you know how to book AirAsia? On your hand / cell phone try < https://mobile.airasia.com/ >.
Why not post your proposed route - something sounds wrong.
