What a difference a generation or two makes. This former war-torn country is now routinely cited for both the friendliness and the forgiving nature of its people, especially toward Americans. The national trait is clearly optimism. Hook up with an outfitter to take a bike trip in a countryside of thick jungle and undulating coastline. Become a beach bum and spend a week beach hopping on Phu Quoc Island by motorbike. Or visit the temples and pagodas of Hue, the country’s cultural and spiritual center. To meet the locals in Hanoi, the country’s capital, get up early to do tai chi with hundreds of others by Hoan Kiem Lake

Hanoi has an outstanding salsa instructor in Do Sao Mai. I think she's terrific. It's the reason I want to travel there.
