    Hi

I'm a 30-year old female loan traveller. I've travelled a reasonable amount before but never on my own so I'm sort of nervous. I'd like to find a hostel in Hanoi where I can have a safe, nice, clean room on my own but where I can make friends over breakfast or in the bar. I'm fun but I don't think I could take happy-hour type fun in my first few days! I'd love a recommendation from a fellow semi-grown up.

    Thank you

Check out the Hanoi Backpackers Hostel. Lots of fun there.

It's a sociable enough place if you put yourself out there - like sit with other people at breakfast. When are you coming? The same guys are opening a new hostel early October on Ma May in the centre of Old Quarter - would be worth checking out as it looks like it's going to be amazing.

You're using borrowed money to finance your trip?

Though I had the same response as idreamofdurian.
    Loan. Lone. Alone. Like that.

I mean, c'mon, how about a little sense of humor here?
