Me and my friend plan to go to Mai Chau(Hao Binh), Vietnam in this november and stay there for 1 or 2 nights. have you got any idea about how to get there by bus? Which bus station and how much/per ?
Thanks a lot !
John
07:30 am got a taxi from Especen hotel in the Old quarter to My Dinh bus station 45' and 100.000.00D
08:30 am took a small bus to Hoa Binh. 30.000.00D. This is the same with other local people
10:30 am exchanged the bus and paid 60.000.00D to go to Mai Chau, arrived MC at 01:00pm
On the way back.
Left the village at 10:00am, then went to Mai Chau bus station.
11:00 bus left
12:00 there was about 20 people on a small bus. And I paid 80.000.00D. But this time the driver told us the fee was 100. Luckily, the guys on the bus help us to bargain.
03:00 stopped at a gas station 15kms far from (Ha Dong). After that we took a taxi back to the hotel at 05:00pm for 120.000.00D
My TIP
Mai Chau is a peaceful village to relax, reasonable price, friendly people...(8.00 point)
Transportation: difficult to get there by yourself. Private tour is too expensive: (4.00 point)
Comeback: i might come back when they have an easier way to get
It is possible to get a direct bus from My Dinh. According to the timetable they leave at 6am, 7.30am, 9am, 2pm and 2.45pm and cost 50,000. However, when we last went we had trouble getting any clarity on these buses so ended up going via Hoa Binh as detailed in last post. It's worth giving it a go though as it's cheaper and quicker to go direct. Note that we only paid 40,000 for the bus from Hoa Binh to Mai Chau , but it was a large, very rickety local bus.
It was easy enough to pick up a direct minibus to Hanoi at the bus station in Mai Chau although they also do pick ups at some guesthouses in the villages - best to just ask at your guesthouse. They wanted 100,000VND.
Thank you very much for your post ! We will go to Mai chau soon and i will have a report for it !
And what's about the AC in Mai chau ? Do you recommend any place not Mai Chau Lodge ? We are a couple so we want a Dbl room ?
Thanks !
