We have a domestic flight booked with Vietnam Airlines via an agent as part of a bigger tour, and planned to book two more domestic flights with VA ourselves.
But the online booking system insists that name on credit card match the name entered for the passenger. The passenger name must obviously match the passport.
My problem is my passport name is in full but on both my credit cards the name is abbreviated eg.
Passport: Lisa Bart Marge Simpson
Credit Card: Lisa B M Simpson
According to (rage inducing) VA booking system these are not acceptable as an exact match. My boyfriend's cards and passport have the same thing so we can't use his either.
Question: Has anyone got round this successfully eg by just putting the full passport name in the credit card box, or should we give up and get the travel agent to book it?

That's bizarre as I know I booked two tickets last year and my names are slightly different on credit card and passport.
I would probably fudge the credit card name to match your passport name. If the payment system doesn't accept that (which I would expect), then I would fudge the passport name and get them to sort it out at the airport when you checked in.

As long as you have the credit/debit card with the same number that was inputted for payment, it isn't an issue at check-in. My debit card only has my initials. I flew over the weekend. No problem. All they are really interested in is that you do have the actual card. I actually handed over the wrong card and was simply asked did I have a card with a different number. Oops. As busylizzy says make sure the names match your passport.

The credit card name must alway match the passport name. Do not worry about the credit card refusing it. Just make sure they are entered the same and it will work.

I booked four domestic flights online with Vietnam Airlines but my credit and passport names are the same; however, not once was I asked to show the card -- go figure.

Thanks Owee and Bertie. I will try again to book this weekend, hopefully with less cursing at the VA website

They asked for mine last weekend but only on the outgoing leg.
