Hi,

I am trying to plan this trip and have all these places to go, but am having trouble with transportation in between cities? Also I have no idea the length of time in between places ..
What is the best way to get from the Mekong Delta to Angkor Wat? Do you go through Phnom Penh? or some other city?
Also do you stay in Angkor wat or stay in Siem Riep and do day trips there?
Lastly, once in Cambodia, what is the fastest way to get to the islands of Ko Tau, Ko Samui, and Ko Pha Ngan?
Thanks for the help
Thanks

You can take a bus from Ho Chi Minh City to Phnom Penh and then on to Siem Reap , but from the Mekong Delta the only way is to take a bus or boat to Chau Doc , which is just on the Vietnam side of the border, and then take either a slowboat or a "speedboat" from there to Phnom Penh. From PP it's easy to find buses to Siem Reap, although I think Chau Doc to Siem Reap is two separate days of travel no matter how you do it.
When you are visiting the famous temples of Angkor Wat you'll be staying in the charming little town of Siem Reap, which is just south of the huge temple complex. Once there you'll take a taxi or tuk-tuk or even bicycle to see the temples, which are spread out over a very large area.
Hopefully someone else can answer that last part for you.

Stay in Siem Reap.... I'd allow a minimum of a couple of days, 4 would be better.
If you do end up getting a bus from HCMC it costs around 18-22 USD (one way) to Siem Reap. Long day though, takes about 12 hours. Tickets are easy to get in District 1.

Thanks for the info!
If going from HCMC to Chau Doc and then to Phnom Penh do yo recommend staying the night in Chau Doc or is it easy to do the whole thing in 1 day? If staying overnight is better, any rec for accommodation there?
THanks again!

Great! thanks!
Also do you recommend doing some sort of Mekong Delta tour that takes you from HCMC to PP or just doing it on our own as planned above? Do you see or do more with the tours?
