    Hello,

My friend works in HCMC and will leave soon. She works for an import company and is paid in Dong. She will leave soon and needs to change her dong to USD.

We heard that the government isn't allowing dong to be changed to USD...

Anyone know about this? Any advice as to where she can change over about $2,000 worth of dong into USD?

    Thank you!

Tell her just go to a jewellry store and ask them to buy USD. Actually people in Vietnam don't usually exchange their money in the banks, but in Jewellry stores

    Posted from within Vietnam.

All very well but Gold shops are no longer doing the biz given the current clamp down by the authorities. They seized 400,000 USD last week. http://english.vietnamnet.vn/en/business/5935/foreign-exchange-shops-shut-down--banks-close-doors-to-buyers.html Banks and travel agents that do currency exchange are about the only places that you can change money.
