It's my second day in saigon, just wanted to share a tip how to enter facebook.
Google "hotspot shield" and download it to your computer.
Activate it and the facebook is wide open!!!
(the guy who gave me the trick said you have to avoid the virus alert I might get and so I did)
Good luck
Plenty of those sort of programs about but http://gigaom.com/video/hulu-blocks-hotspot-shield-users/ They can be blocked just as easily as Facebook if they realise the IP in use.. Although I think the total number of days I've been down and prevented from using FB can be counted on one hand in 18 months. If you have your own computer, just messing around with the host file has worked for me. But it does vary from area to area.
Friends in another part of the city have been using Tor with success.

This method you will like more. No program needed. In my computer such programs work but slow down windows very much. A better method is to change the configuration. Here is how to do it:
Control Panel>
NetworkConnections >
choose Properties >
Internet Protocol [TCP/IP] Properties >
Use the following DPreferred DNS Server press 208.67.222.222
and at Alternate DNS Server press 208.67.222.220
/ok
Yes, agree with Yorameh that use hotspot shield. But you should Disconnect it when you finish unless you want to see many adv at the top of the opened web

A lot of the places we went to, including a very nice hostel, use UltraSurf. Seems to be reliable and effective.

We've also got a step by step guide to using Facebook in Vietnam here. That's for the PC, a similar how to for Mac users is on the way.
