Ahmmm! Silly question, but do you need a bike license in Vietnam? If you don't have one, can you use your car driving license?

Legally I believe you need a Vietnamese bike license, but an international license will pass. But no-one will ask you for a license when you're renting the bike - it's just the police and your insurance you have to think about.

You don't need a license to be able to hire a bike but technically it is illegal to drive without one. Not that you are likely to get any trouble - people drive round here for years without a license - but your insurance won't cover you if you have an accident and if you do get stopped by police you will have to pay a fine.
