We are trying to find the cheapest and best way to get to Cairns from Vietnam, so have a couple of q's:
1. Is it best to go from Hanoi or Ho Chi Min when trying to get to Cairns?
2. Which cities in Aus do these flights stop at en route?
3. Where online can we book a cheap flight from either Hanoi or Ho Chi Min to Cairns?

I tried to figure out a way to do this also as I live in Nth Qld. Seems the only Asian flights into Cairns are with Cathay Pacific or JAL. It turns out to be a pretty expensive option going via HK or Japan. If you are backpacking and are keen on looking about another option would be to fly into Darwin using Tiger Airways and then make your way overland. Cheers

Jetstar flies from HCM city to Sydney. Their website is jetstar.com.au. They are a low cost "no frills carrier" and a subsidiary of Qantas. From Sydney you could then try and pick up a cheap flight with any of the aussie carriers, virginblue, jetstar and even qantas. Best of luck.
