This summer I go to Vietnam and Cambodja for 5 weeks. I start from Hanoi and first wan't to make a trip through the most northern part of Vietnam. I am thinking of the roundtrip Hanoi - Sapa - Dien Bien Phu - Hanoi. Has anybody any idea about how much time this trip would take and what the best way of transport is?

do it by motorbike, and make sure you go via Mai Chau Son La. I'm now in Son la, and today has been one of the most exhilarating of my life. I've just hired a Minsk. I'm so so so glad I've not gone by bus, though if you want t trekking etc then proably arrange a trekking motorbike combination thing.
