Hello - I am planning a 2 week solo trip to Vietnam early March. I have a draft itinerary I read on this site but am wondering if it's too much to visit in such a short amount of time. I was also hoping to get some advice on how long to stay in each area.
1) Hanoi - Halong Bay
2) Hanoi -> Hue (Take flight)
3) Hue -> Hoi An
4) Hoi An -> Nha Trang
5) Nha Trang -> Mui Ne
6) Mui Ne -> Ho Chi Minh City (trip to Mekong Delta from here)
I was thinking I could cut out Nha Trang and Mui Ne if needed so I could spend more time in other areas.
Appreciate any input. Thanks!

Just my opinion cat but I think you are planning way too much for a 2 week itinerary.
Given the massive size of Vietnam, in a two-week timeframe I would focus on one area of the country. Then come back and see the rest some other time if you like it.
Why not stick to the North this time around - 2 weeks would be a very relaxing amount of time to see Hanoi (4-5 days), Sapa (3-4 days) and HB (3 days) and maybe even squeeze in a day trip to Ninh Binh.
This way you should absorb much more culture, have better memories and save yourself some cash.

I really appreciate your feedback! My main focus for the trip is to explore the culture and people of the country - I would love to visit markets, religious sites, bike and explore, take a cooking class, see beautiful scenery. I am not really interested in large cities and nightlife.
A few people have been telling me Laos may be a better place to visit but I've been reading that March is a pretty bad time to visit due to the extreme heat and smoke/haze. Would you recommend visiting Vietnam or Laos early March for the 2 weeks? I will be visiting Thailand for 1 week after.

Two weeks in Lao will still restrict you, due to travel logistics. I agree with Chinarocks: better to pick one section of Viet Nam (or Lao) - see more of less places.
