If I had any idea what that was, i might be able to help! Seriously, there's a blog on here which lists a few places that show sport. But best thing is to check the new hanoian website a few days before - event notifications tend to be last minute.
I believe it's an annual Australian rugby event where the players play for the team of the state they come from. It's a good idea as rivals from different clubs play for a day together in the same state team .
I'm not Australian but some of my friends are and go crazy over it. Might explain the OP but not where he can see it. I'm sure sarah know some expat bars where brits and australians come for a beer.

Hello,
Can anyone help me with where I can watch the Rugby League State of Origin on the 23 May 2012 while I am in Hanoi?
Cheers

If anywhere is showing it, Jaspas in Hanoi Towers on Hai Ba Trung will be. Look on the New Hanoian website for more information.
