Just an FYI. Currently sitting in the half man half noodle bar in Ha Noi and despite travelfish's great reviews of it, it was not at all what it is cracked up to be. First, the music was terrible. We are talking dub step. Almost the whole night. Secondly, lots of cigarette smoke. If you are not a fan, stay away. Finally, couldn't find the special coconut cocktails on the menu and bartender had no idea what they were. Ordered French fries and they were by far one of the worst French fries I've had. Anyone have a similar experience?

If it's so bad, why are you still sitting there? And for 'almost the whole night'? If I don't like a place, I move on,. And menus and staff change of course.
Dunno - I just get suspicious when the first post by a new poster is a negative review.

We sat there 45 min after marching through a rain storm to find the place. So leaving right away wasn't really our top priority. We love travel fish and have been using it our entire trip. If menus and staff change, people need to know because the current review doesn't reflect that. Just trying to spread the word partner.

Fair comment. I guess we (I) tend to be a bit suspicious of first time posters that put on a negative review. (For example, is it someone from a neighbouring restaurant? - esp when coming from Vietnam!)

Enjoy your trip! And maybe update us with some of the good stuff when you get a chance.
