I will arive in HCMC from Europe at around 8 pm and is planning to fly to Nha Trang the next morning, so I would like a hotel close to the airport since I expect I will only spend the time on sleeping and a shower. Any reecommedatikns at a asonable price (thinking max around 30 USD)?

There are 2 or 3 four or five stars hotel near the airport so your budget can't meet that.
But then, it's less than 30mins to get to the city. Why not just head to town or the backpacker's area for the night?

The point is that after a long flight and with an early morning flight out I would like to find something closer to the airport since I won't be needing food or entertainment anyway. And last time I was in HCMC I found that due to traffice the backpacker district was more than 30 min away.

I've just sent my uncle to the airport yesterday and it was less than 30mins. But that was at 11am. Still, even if you add another 50% of travelling time, max, it's not that bad after all.
On top of this, you have a limited budget which won't fit the big hotels nearby.

Well in my experienced I am pretty exhausted after being travelling 25+ hours with little sleep so I actually find that 30-45 mins of transport to be quite a lot if it can be avoided. Especially since I on this occasion have to get up around 5.30-6 am the next morning to catch another flight.
So if anybody knows of any hotel close to the airport it will be greatly appriciated.
The price might be higher than I expected, but I might find the extra cost worth it.

I have to say you are in a quandry. As everyone has pointed out there are no budget hotels near the airport. If you are concerned about timing, leave a little earlier from District 1 and you should be okay.

@NYTim As I mentioned in my previous post I would rather pay some extra since there are no budget hotels close to the airport. Arriving after several flights from Europe I just want to go somewhre close to sleep especially since I need to be be in the airport again early the next morning.
So again I am asking for any hotel near to the sirport.

Do not worry, Saigon airport located in the center, it takes 20 minutes to reach city center or walk to pham ngu lao street for low cost hotel.
