Hi - I am about to to take a Cambridge CELTA and plan to head out to Vietnam in early October to try and find a job teaching English. I really want to be on the coast and have been looking at Nha Trang and Da Nang. Does anyone know of any schools I could email? Or have any advice on how to find work? I am 52 and have over 20 years experience working with children in different capacities, including many years teaching, although I don't have a PGCE and am new to TEFL. Any advice would be gratefully received.
Thanks
Tim
I don't have too much advice for you, but when I was considering teaching in Vietnam I was honing on this school: http://www.ilavietnam.com
My plan (or one of them, obviously I went with a different one was to get the CELTA through ILA in Saigon then hopefully go to work for them in Da Nang , or ask them for help finding work there. I love the Da Nang area, agree that would be a great place to set up camp for a while.
I'm fairly certain that with all your credentials, you could just show up in Nha Trang or Da Nang, start motorbiking around and introducing yourself, and find work pretty quickly.

Thanks DL. I have come across ILA and am planning on sending them my CV, but your reply was very encouraging. Encouragement is probably what I need as much as anything at the moment!
Thanks again

Had some friends who worked at Singapore International School in Da Nang. Good enough compensation and nice working environment.
