I have just lost about an hours work, replying to a post. When I tried to preview it, my log-in had apparently dropped out, and I lost the lot.
I spent a lot of time composing the post, as I was referring to maps and notes of my trip. Is there something I need to do with a long reply?

Why not cut it in 2 or more pieces to be posted one after the other. I also lose text, and now save my long posts before sending them.

Sorry, the login times out after an hour, so if you're working on a wonder post, better to compose it elsewhere -- or write in chunks.
Apols!

Thanks, Somtam.
I've just completed my reply in Word, and did a Copy and Paste.
Worked fine!

Catches me out sometimes too, especially when I start off thinking I'm writing a short post...
The simplest way of avoiding losing what you've written in the reply box is to copy it just before hitting Preview
Admin: If the CMS/app framework you use allows it without too much difficulty I'm sure some of us users would appreciate a checkbox option to stay logged in.

I find when that happens (ie you get the error message), hit the back button to go back to your original page and your text that you entered will still be there. Works for me each time (after a moment of annoyed panic) using Chrome.

enigmatic - go to Member profile, edit and select remember login. That should keep you logged in all the time.

The back-button as described by busylizzy works ... sometimes

You lose your post if you go back when you're using firefox so I just tried activating the logged in option you mentioned Somtam. That doesn't work either! Also I'm pretty sure I get logged out in less than an hour.

SBE - works for me in Firefox, though the front page images don't rotate properly in FF. Talk about a Friday afternoon problem
