Hi everyone, Love all the advice on here. Thought I'd bounce my itinerary off the TF board and get some feedback if you all wouldn't mind.
Arrive Hanoi on Tues Jan 8th, airport transfer to hostel pre-arranged in the evening
Plan for 8 days in North Vietnam, Halong Bay tour (2-3 days most likely), Perfume Pagoda, Snake Market, hopefully overnight stay or day trip in countryside via motorcycle, details unclear.
Fly on the 17th To HCMC
spend the 17th, 18th in HCMC
then go to Mekong Delta for 19th, 20th-possibly by arranged tour or public transport. Would love to do homestay.
Then somehow get to PP, Cambodia-would like to do the fast boat from Mekong Delta but very unsure on details at this point.
Thoughts? Too rushed? Anything I'd miss (bedside Sapa which in January might not be ideal anyway)? Too much time in North, not enough in South-would you move a day either way to see something great?
Oh, solo female with decent ($60-100 US a day budget, not including flights). First time in Asia.
That is more than a decent budget, you'll be fine there.
It is difficult to comment on your schedule as it becomes unclear after you leave HCMC on the 19th . . .how many days do you have planned in the Delta? When do you want to be to PP by?
You won't be doing much exploring on the 17th, and the 18th will keep you busy in the city, so if you want to see the Cu Chi tunnels outside the city you'll want to set aside another day - an interesting bit of history there and it relaxes the pace a speck.
In the Delta there is plenty to do with a homestay - I enjoyed Can Tho for at least one full day, so 2 nights there would be nice - maybe a 1 or 2 night homestay arranged to be done on the way up to Chau Doc with another night there before heading onto PP . . total of 5 nights in the Delta that way.
