hi,
is it safe/reliable to book hostels/hotels thru "hostelworld.com".
they recommended "orchid hotel" along chu van an(HUE) which cost abt SGD19/nite/pax. Need to be billed for 10% deposit in USD n additonal USD2 service charge.
tats is my 1st nite stop in vietnam n i wana secure a room.
so is the above a common web for online booking or any recommendation?
thanks

ciao bello,
i used the hostelworld.com website to book a room in athens a few years back and had no problems. the hotel has our reservation on hand when we arrived and we were charged the room fee minus the 10% deposit.
you could always try to book directly with the hotel as well, if their website is set up to handle that.
cheers.

Hi Bello,
I would recommend the following hotels in HMC and Hoi An:
HMC - District 1 (Backpacker Area)
Kim Hotel (www.kimhotel.com)
A single room is from $12-16 per night and includes AC, TV, fridge, ensuite bathroom and free internet.
The owner "Kim" and her staff are very friendly. You can reserve a room by sending an e-mail to saigonhotel_loan@hotmail.com.
Hoi An
Thien Thanh Hotel
A single room is $25 per night and includes AC, breakfast, wireless internet and swimming pool
You can book a room by sending an e-mail to thienthanhhotel@dng.vnn.vn
Both hotels have been recommended by other travellers on travelfish.

Hi Bello:
The cheapest (and quietest) area can be located at a side street at 66 Le Loi - opposite the Century Riverside Hotel. Check out the Phuong Nha Guesthouse. Heard it was USD$3.50 (dorm) last week.
Nearer the centre, at 56 Nguyen Tri Phuong Street (NguyenTriPhuongHotel@yahoo.com) you can get a dorm bed for USD$4. This hotel is 4 years old and near all the Open Tour offices.
A-C, InterNet (free), laundry, etc. available.

Hi Bello,
Check out Phuoc An Hotel on Tran Cao Van Street in Hoi An. It's a newer hotel with rooms starting at $15 a night. It includes breakfast and internet. They even have a pool. A good place to chill on a hot day. A 5 minute walk to the city centre.
