Please help me and my girlfriend are flying into HCMC 4th January and fly out of Bangkok 24th January. I have read so much and with Christmas as well my brain is starting to get fried so many places so little time and I fully accept the last thing I want to be doing is spending hours on buses, trains and travelling.
I have a plan in my head but would appreciate any advice -
DAY 1- 2
HCMC couple of days in Saigon, a cookery course Sunday market and a Spa treatment.
DAY 2 - 7
Fly to Phu Quoc from HCMC hire a couple of scooters give ourselves 5 days to explore the island.
DAY 7 - 9
Fly to Con Tho perhaps homestay floating market then boat trip to Chau Doc then boat trip to Phnom Penh Cambodia.
DAY 9 - 14
Allowing 5 days to visit around the area from Phnom Penh to Siem Reap and doing all the temples etc
From DAY 14 - DAY 20 take flight from Siem Reap to a destination in Thailand maybe another island not sure before going to Bangkok for 24th.
Any help would be great appreciated especially if you think I am cramming too much in. By the way just to let you me and my girlfriend are in our 30s love cooking not a great one for museums and sightseeing however Angor Wat sounds appealing, long days on boats down the Delta sound fantastic, bike rides round islands, swimming beautiful beaches and definitely great food ideally off the tourist trak we are happy to arrange our own tours and travel rather than through package company.
Please help.

I am thinking that perhaps we drop Cambodia this time, and just concentrate on Vietnam for 10 days then Thailand for 10 days, what do you think guys??

I think you are absolutely right! Cambodia is beautiful but deserves more time, although your original plan is do'able with your planned flights sometimes the culture shocks between countries, the currency changes and the fact that it always takes a few days to get your bearings can make it a bit more stressful over such a short time schedule, unless money is no issue, then I'd say stick to your plan! If it is, then remember to budget more for Thailand, its much more expensive than Vietnam. Have a great trip!

Ten and ten is the way to go. The pressure of racing around will wear you out. Spend five days on a beach somewhere (my wife likes Koh Samet) and five days in Bangkok (lots to see and do) and that should work OK. Given your timelines, flying is the way to go.
