Hey guys,
has anybody got an idea how to pre-book a visa if we are planning on crossing Laos-Vietnamese border around mid March? What are our options? I think our bus will go through Nam Kan.

I assume you mean entering VN from Laos? You must have your visa in hand - the VN Visa on Arrival is only for air arrivals. Going the other way, the procedure is much easier - just buy the Lao visa at the border. See a travel agent in Laos for the VN visa - I'm sure they do it every day.

Thank you so much, Daawgon! We're now thinking of changing the direction - Going from Bangkok-Cambodia-Vietnam-Laos-Bangkok. I saw here someone recommended Cambodia as the best place (and cheapest) to get Vietnamese visa, is that correct? Can we arrange it in Phnom Penh?

Yes you can get a Vietnamese visa in Phnom Penh -- it's explained in this blog post on getting a Vietnamese visa in PhnomPenh, though be sure to check the comments as it appears the prices have changed somewhat.
