Can anyone tell me what options there are to travel from Phnom Penh to Ho Chi Minh City?
Do you know of reputable companies that either go overland or by boat?
Also, is it easy to get a Vietnamese visa in Cambodia?
Thanks for answering!!!

Hi nzchanty,
The two most common ways to do the trip are either by fast/slow boat to Chau Doc in Vietnam, then bus to Saigon (assuming you don't want to spend more time in the Delta) or else there are direct bus services between the two. The latter is the faster method and costs as little as US$8 depending on the operator.
It is straightforward and relatively inexpensive to get a Vietnamese visa in Phnom Penh -- you can either go to the embassy yourself, or work through a travel agent.

Thanks for getting back to me somtam2000.
On average, how long will it take on the fast/slow boat to Chau Doc and beyond in the Mekong Delta?
I am interested in spending some time in the Delta and then moving up to HCMC.
Look forward to hearing more

The speedboat takes around 4 hours, the slow boat 6+ depending on how long they spend at customs.
From Chau Doc onwards, say to Can Tho, a bus takes a couple of hours.

You can get your VN visa in PP.
There are also VN bus lines (new buses) running between PP and HCMC.
AT THE BORDER DO NOT LET ANYONE HANDLE YOUR BAGS - scam charges or possible tampering. Border customs have all day to check your bags. (Hint, hint)
