I think you should spend 1 month visiting Vietnam, which is quite a long city requiring long time travel too. In my opinion, your itinerary is nice and difficult to change. However, about you idea of skipping Hoi An for Northern part may be not a good one. I travelled to Vietnam once, there are different atmosphere in different parts, Hoi An is well worth visiting. You can travel by couch in stead of train for time saving and more sightseeings visited. Anyway, where are you now? Have a wonderful trip!

Thanks for letting me have your opinion. I just finished my trip to Vietnam which was really an awesome experience.
As I mentioned, I skipped center section and added more days to North, then visited Saigon and Mekong and then ended my trip by relaxing by the beach on Phu Quoc which is a very awesome island to explore.
I hope I will visit Vietnam again soon and go to other interesting places like Hue, Hoi An, Na Trang, Dalat, Mui Ne which I think I should dedicate another two weeks for.
