What is the best way to get to PP from Saigon. Overland or fly?
We have been to Vietnam before and visted the Meekong which we loved. Can we organise our own boat trip from Saigon, is there a direct option to PP or do we have to go by road to the Meekong then boat. Any suggestions to do it independently. Thanks

1) You can go by fast/slow boat from Phnom Penh to Chau Doc, from where you can take a bus to Saigon, or loll around in the Delta for a few days. Note there are not regular passenger ferries that run all the way to Saigon.
2) You can take a direct bus from Phnom Penh to HCM - takes best part of a day. Costs $6-12 depending on the operator.
3) You can take an organised trip that spends a couple of days in the Delta enroute to Saigon. Figure $18-40 per person depending on what options and length of tour you choose.
4) You can fly.
Hope that helps

Thanks for you help. Sorry its taken so long to respond to you.
Did a 2 day tour last year think we might try and do our own thing this time. Not too keen on the herding sheep feel and vouyerism. Will book hotel in Chau Doc and take a fast boat to PP. I think we can get a bus to Chau Doc from Saigon. Sad there is not a regular passenger service from Saigon.
