has anyone any experience of the company tropical sails for junk trips in halong bay? want to book something classier than the backpacker trips for thisso would appreciate advice.

It is well known for quality cruises using boats with about 15 cabins, female staff and purpose designed with some of the most current safety equipment.
If you want a larger boat, 50 cabins, look to the Emeraude.

Cheap boat cruises cut corners - deck hands doing the cooking; you sleep on unknown hotels on Cat Ba island; etc.
What you pay is directly proportional to the cruise quality.
