With increased disposable income the Vietnamese are taking to the road like never before which will put the squeeze on economical accommodation so favoured by backpackers and visitors to VietNam.

The OpenTour buses will also be loaded and you can expect increased prices - in addition to the fuel surcharges.

The next national holiday is the May Day / Tran Hung Dao holiday that runs from 2008 April 30 – 2008 May 1. In addition, many will have one more day off on King Hung’s death anniversary, 2008 April 26 making for a very long weekend.

Already some hotels are fully booked.

HUE FESTIVAL 2008
Later in the year is the full Hue Festival 2008 will run from 2008 June 3 through 2008 June 11. ALL 312+ HOTELS and GUESTHOUSES will be filled to bursting. BOOK *NOW* IF YOU ARE TRAVELLING TO / THROUGH HUE IN THIS PERIOD.

No email solicitations please

HOTEL RESERVATIONS
VN hotels are notorious for not honouring reservations made through hotel res systems preferring a cash customer at their Reception over another who *might* come. Note that *deposits* made to hotel res systems are kept by the on-line system therefore the hotel has little risk of loss. Even Tour Operators in VN are losing reservations as the hotels are refusing to honour agreements!

BUSES
With increased bus rates around the holidays I suggest that Travellers buy their tickets for any segment they are ready to travel on rather than an end-to-end ticket. This way you can get cheaper segment tickets after the peak period.

Hue is an extremely popular destination for vacationing VN people.

Usually, if you are checked into a hotel they won't *usually* toss you out (although it happened to me occasionally).

The BEST way to guarantee continued occupation of a room is to prepay the room, after you are satisfied with it, to the end of your proposed stay.

The vacation period falls in your Hue visit, so take precautions!

Somtam:
I wasn't soliciting - there is no where on the InterNet with all listings of Hue hotels that provides contact info.

How can one solicit if you are no selling anything?
