Hi fishers
just back from Hanoir and around, here are my thoughts on a couple of places I stayed at.
cheers
Ocean Stars 2 Hotel, Hanoi
Dao Duy Tu Lane
Room: Its quite new, so the rooms are clean, comfortable and not weathered. There’s airconditioning, a little cupboard and even a fridge and tv, if that does it for you. Nothing flash, but more than comfortable.
Location: Its on a side street (Dao Duy Tu Lane, just off main Dao Duy Tu), so it mostly quiet. The rooms facing the back are totally peaceful, while the ones facing the alley can occasionally be a bit noisy (kids, the odd bike). But compared the noise on the main streets of the Old Quarter, this was nothing at all. It’s a two minute walk from the so called Bia Hoi junction, and an easy walk to pretty much anywhere in the Old Quarter. Though that’s probably true of a lot of places there.
Misc: We did not book any tours with them (Jimmy is the guy here). That wasn’t a problem per se, nor any screw ups, but he seemed a fair bit miffed by it. Got a bit moody with us after that, which was inconsequential but a bit irritating. but we got them to get us our train tickets to and from Sapa. The train tickets were from a different company than the one he said he’s getting- not much of a bother, but worth a mention.
