Long Tan is located in Ba Ria-Vung Tau Province, the capital city being the seaside city of Vung Tau and is some 110 km east of Ho Chi Minh City.
There was a battle here involving US, Australian and New Zealand troops along with, of course, the VC on 1966 August 18.
The Vietnamese recognise the significance of this and you might want to check < http://www.vietnam.embassy.gov.au/hnoi/consular07.html >.
Travelling to Vung Tau from HCMC is a breeze - simply head on down to the SaiGon River at the end of Ham Nghi Street and jump on board a 'Flying Fish' hydrofoil - they leave every half-hour during the day (there are two companies operating there). The ride takes about 90 minutes.
Vung Tau Tourist Corporation is likely your best contact. They are at 29 Tran Hung Dao Street, Vung Tau City; Tel:+84-(0)-64-857-527 or 511043 or E-m: vungtautour@hcm.vnn.vn. YOU WILL SAVE MONEY by making your own way to Vung Tau then to pick up a tour.

Thank you so much again CatBa, we were getting worried as we couldn't find out much info on it, let alone find it in any of the main travel guides!!!!!
We're looking forward to visiting it, for personal reasons.
