I have a free week or two in September in between when i need to be in Cambodia and when I need to be in Singapore, and am looking for somewhere with some beaches and some culture...
a friend of mine just came back from a trip around Vietnam, and really loved the Hui An area, and it sounds like just the place I'm looking to spend a week or so at...
However, I'm trying to find flights, and the only ones I can find are on tiger airways from Singapore to Da Nang, for $192 each way! it's a bit out of my price range... flights from singapore to either Hanoi or HoChiMin city are only $40 each way, MUCH more reasonable...
I don't know much about Vietnam (my first time there), so can anyone let me know how easy it would be to get from HCM or Hanoi to Hui An? I'm looking for something in a "flashpaker" price range, yet relatively painless, as I'll have just finished three weeks of leading adventure/volunteer tours in Cambodia and am looking for a little R&R.
or do you think the $192 tickets are maybe an error? last week the website said the price was over $300!!! even $192 seems odd, since flights to elsewhere in Vietnam are just $40....

That fare seems very high as I've seen Tiger fares from Sg to Da Nang for as little as S$30 one way -- maybe try some different dates.
Otherwise, fly into Hanoi and take the train down to Da Nang -- far cheaper and it is a very pretty trip.
